Smart Village Event in Bled (Slovenia)

The half-day conference entitled 'For a Brighter Future of Rural Areas in the EU' will take place on Friday, 13 April 2018 in Bled (Slovenia). It’s based on the initiative EU for Smart Villages. The main goal of the conference is to promote the EU for Smart Villages initiative and to enable networking and exchange of ideas. The event takes place with the participation of decision makers, members of public and administrative offices, members of organisations and companies, and other stakeholders from the field of “smart villages”. The programme of the event can be accessed here.

EU Pilot Study on Smart Eco-social Villages launches consultation

The Pilot Project on Smart eco-social villages is being implemented by Ecorys, Origin for Sustainability and R.E.D. on behalf of the European Commission (DG AGRI). Among others, it aims to establish a definition of Smart Villages, collect best practice examples and implement six case studies aspiring to become a “Smart Village”. A first consultation on the 'smart village' definition is open until 27 April 2018. Smart Village Network was launched

April 04, 2018

The Smart Village Network was launched on 5 April 2018 with eight pioneering villages and village groups/ associations: Finnish Village Movement Association; Schickelsheim, Königslutter and Landkreis Helmstedt (Germany); Koppany-valley Naturpark (Hungary), Ptuj (Slovenia); Lormes (France), National Association of Virtuous Municipalities (Italy), La Noguera Medinaceli (Spain) and the Arctic Smart Rural Communities (Finland). The Smart Village Network is open to all villages and village associations. Members are continuously signing up to SVN. See more information here.
