Locally Led Development Halland
Organisation overview
Locally Led Development Halland is a nonprofit organization that runs projects under the LEADER program, founded in 2007. Our LAG-board consisting of 24 members is represented by an equally divided number of people from public, private and non-profit organizations. There are several goals for LLUH, as follows: To promote locally led development in the region with the goals of increasing the number of innovations, competitiveness, and employment, as well as making Halland a more welcoming and attractive place to live. To actively promote equality and sustainability. To complement municipal, regional, national, and international strategies and development plans with local drive, knowledge, and initiatives. To support local initiatives in identifying opportunities for collaboration and synergies, including at the international level, in order to become even more effective. To increase the likelihood of achieving its goals, the LAG implements its own projects and also supports external organizations by providing funding for their projects. This is done through what is known as “micro-grants”—small amounts of funding that can be applied for, making the process somewhat faster and simpler. One of our LAG-led projects is called Smart Rural Areas. Smart Rural Areas facilitates housing and digital services in rural Halland. We work to promote entrepreneurship and social sustainability so that people of all ages can live and work throughout Halland. Another project is called Volontärpool. The project aims to improve crisis preparedness while strengthening local engagement in rural areas of Halland. Through a digital volunteer database, it becomes easier for individuals to contribute and for nonprofit, private, and public organizations to quickly find volunteers for various short-term initiatives. And the last LAG-funded project is called Unga Landsbyggare Halland. The project aims to promote entrepreneurship and engagement in rural areas throughout Halland, with a particular focus on young people aged 16–35. The project aims to contribute to a shift in attitudes and create a more positive image of rural Halland, particularly with regard to the entrepreneurial climate among young people. This, in turn, will create an attractive place that draws in capital, talent, and drive. The project will strengthen young people’s entrepreneurial spirit while also creating opportunities for them to participate in the development of their hometowns, challenge the “big-city norm,” and feel like part of a “rural community family.
