Aardehuis Ecovillage

Aardehuis is an eco-community of 23 families (some 70 individuals) living in self-built, self-sufficient earth houses (based on the ‘Earthship’ concept). We aim for balancing all interrelated aspects of sustainability: the ecological, economical, social and worldview dimensions of sustainable community life. We are situated on the outskirts of Olst, a village of 5,500 inhabitants, in an overly rural wider area. We initiated a lot of projects and activities that strengthen our relationship with the village and the resilience of the local and regional communities.
